What does Zane's Inc. fund?

Zane's funds therapy (speech, OT, PT, ABA, music, art, hippotherapy, vision), assistive and adaptive equipment, communication devices (AAC), summer and day camp (up to $1,200 for 3 weeks), respite care, and adult living essentials for individuals 18+. The maximum grant is $2,000 per individual per year.

Who qualifies for a Zane's Inc. grant?

Applicants must have a lifelong developmental or intellectual disability (all ages — children and adults), reside in one of 20 Northeast Ohio counties, demonstrate financial need (assessed case by case by our Finance Officer — there is no fixed income cutoff), and have exhausted other funding sources (insurance, Medicaid, SSI, other grants) first. Zane's is a last-resort funder.

Which Ohio counties does Zane's serve?

Zane's serves 20 Northeast Ohio counties: Ashland, Ashtabula, Carroll, Columbiana, Cuyahoga, Erie, Geauga, Holmes, Huron, Lake, Lorain, Mahoning, Medina, Portage, Richland, Stark, Summit, Trumbull, Tuscarawas, and Wayne.

How does funding disbursement work?

Funding is reviewed and disbursed four times per year on January 30, April 30, July 30, and October 30. Zane's pays providers directly — never the family. Funding covers future services only; current or past bills are not eligible. Adults 18+ requesting under $500 may be considered on an expedited basis.

Casino Night, Family Fun Fair, and the Holiday Party with Santa are all happening on schedule.

Fundraisers & Sponsors

Donations, sponsorships, and vendor opportunities remain fully open. Zane's has no paid staff — donations fund our family programs.

How the Application Process Works

Gather your documents
Collect documentation of the diagnosis, proof of income, and a quote from your service provider.

Complete the free online application
Submit the application online — it takes 20–30 minutes. Describe the services needed and upload your documentation.

Schedule a Zoom interview
After submitting, a Zane's board member will contact you to schedule a brief virtual meeting to discuss your application.

Board review
Your application is reviewed at the next quarterly disbursement date: January 30, April 30, July 30, or October 30.

Receive your decision
Decisions are communicated following the quarterly disbursement date.

Provider receives payment
If approved, Zane's pays your service provider directly — never the family. Funding covers future services only.
